## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED WAS FLYING AT 500 FEET AGL, HEARD A LOUD POP SOUND, AND DECIDED TO LAND THE AIRPLANE IN A FEILD. HE STATED THAT AS HE TRIED TO SIDE SLIP WITH LEFT RUDDER TO LOSE ALTITUDE, THE RUDDER WOULD NOT MOVE. THE AIRPLANE LANDED, PROCEEDED THROUGH A BARBED WIRE FENCE, CROSSED A ROAD, AND CAME TO REST IN A PRIVATE YARD. THE PILOT STATED THAT GUSTY WINDS ATTRIBUTED TO THE DIFFICULTY IN LANDING THE AIRPLANE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE RIGHT SIDE CABLE CONTROLLING THE RUDDER WOULD NOT MOVE TO ALLOW LEFT RUDDER MOVEMENT. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE CABLE WAS RESTRICTED FROM MOVING DUE TO THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSING FORWARD FROM THE ACCIDENT IMPACT, PULLING THE CABLE TIGHT. UPON DISCONNECTING THE CABLE LINKAGE TO THE NOSE WHEEL, THE RUDDER SYSTEM OPERATED NORMALLY IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AS DID ALL FLIGHT CONTROLS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11LA203](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11LA203), Mar 20, 2011: Cessna 150H (N6555S), Maury City, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to attain the proper glidepath during on off-airport landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
