## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT MORGAN A. STANTON WAS SPRAYING FERTILIZER ON A FIELD JUST SOUTH OF KAMIAK BUTTE. HIS TURNING AREA WAS UP HILL FROM THE FIELD TOWARDS THE BUTTE. TERRAIN CLIMBED FASTER THEN THE AIRCRAFT COULD CLIMB. HE STRUCK A TREE THAT CAUSED THE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE STRUCK THE GROUND NOSE DOWN AT NEARLY A 90 DEGREE RIGHT BANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11LA181](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11LA181), Apr 1, 2011: Cessna A188 (N5851G), Palouse, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot did not maintain adequate clearance from obstacles during a low-level aerial application maneuver.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
