## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PRACTICING HARD SURFACE LANDINGS ON RUNWAY 36 AT THE BROOKFIELD, MISSOURI, AIRPORT (MO8). AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE TAILWHEEL DEVELOPED A SEVERE SHIMMY AND THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN DRIFTING TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT COULD NOT REGAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WITH EITHER BRAKES OR RUDDER AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY ONTO ROUGH TERRAIN. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A DRAINAGE DITCH AND SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA281](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA281), Apr 2, 2011: Reeves Avid Mark IV (N6313T), Brookfield, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted in the airplane departing the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
