## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DEPARTED THERMAL CALIFORNIA (TRM) AT APPROXIMATELY 1015 LOCAL ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN TO FURNACE CREEK (L06). PILOT CANCELLED IFR APPROXIMATELY 05 MINUTES FROM L06. L06 WIND INDICATOR SHOWED WIND FROM APPROXIMATELY WESTERLY DIRECTION, WHICH AGREED WITH INFORMATION FROM THE PARK SERVICE WHICH PILOT HAD OBTAINED EARLIER. PILOT APPROACHED LANDING AT VAPP SPEED THEN TO VREF. PILOT TOUCHED DOWN VERY NEAR THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY, APPLIED BRAKES AND GROUND FLAPS, BUT DECELERATION WASN'T OR DIDN'T SEEM NORMAL TO PILOT. PILOT REALIZED THAT THE BRAKING MAY NOT STOP THE AIRCRAFT IN TIME FROM DEPARTING THE RUNWAY, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE FOR A SAFE GO AROUND SO HE OVERRAN THE RUNWAY AND STOPPED APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET IN THE SANDY AREA AT THE END OF THE 33.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
