## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED ON SCENE AT LINDEN NC OF A T-34B N93013 INDICATED DEPARTURE FROM A PRIVATE LANDING STRIP OF APPROXIMATELY 3000' WITH GROUND CONTACT APPROXIMATELY 1000' FROM THE END OF THAT STRIP. THE AIRCRAFT HAD IMPACT DAMAGE TO THE WINGS AND PROP, THE TAIL SECTION HAD BEEN SEVERED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SITTING ROUGHLY PARALLEL TO THE RUNWAY, GEAR UP. THERE WAS NO SMELL OF FUEL AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF SPILLAGE OR DISTRESS TO THE PROXIMATE VEGETATION.ADDITIONALY WE WERE ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT THE HOBBS READING WAS 7279.4 WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS PICKED UP BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND 7281.7 AT THE POINT OF IMPACT. THE FLIGHT TIME FROM KINSTON REGIONAL (ISO) TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HOME AIRPORT WAS ESTIMATED AT .4 TO .5HR. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PICKED UP FROM ISO ON THE APRIL 7TH AND THE ACCIDENT OCCURED ON APRIL 14. THIS LEAVES ALMOST TWO HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME UNACCOUNTED FOR. WITH THIS DISSPARITY IN AIRCRFT HOBBS, AND THE LACK OF EVIDENCE OF RESIDUAL FUEL WOULD INDICATE THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN ADDITIONAL FLIGHTS IN THE 14 DAYS BETWEEN THE TIME THE AIRCRAFT WAS PICKED UP AT ISO AND THE ACCIDENT. LESS THAN FULL FULE ON TAKE OFF, EXTENDED PRE-TAKE-OFF RUNS UPS, AND ADDITIONAL FLIGHTS COULD HAVE CERTINLY LEAD TO FUEL STARVATION ON TAKEOFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11LA249](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11LA249), Apr 14, 2011: Beech D-45 (T-34B) (N93013), Linden, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate takeoff performance planning and procedures, which resulted in an attempted takeoff on a grass runway that was not long enough for the given conditions and airplane…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
