## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ALL PREFLIGHT CHECKS, ENGINE START & GROUND RUN-UPS CONDUCTED WERE NORMAL. 12 SECONDS AFTER TAKEOFF: #1 TACH WENT TO 3500 RPM, #1 MAP DROPPED TO 42". OIL PSI, FUEL PSI, CHT & OIL TEMP ALL REMAINED NORMAL. 60 SECONDS AFTER TAKE-OFF: OIL PSI WENT TO 0, #1 MAP DROPPED TO 30". THE PILOTS ATTEMPTED TO FEATHER & SHUTDOWN THE #1 PROPELLER & ENGINE, AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON RUNWAY 26L. THE PROPELLER DID NOT FEATHER. 10 BOLTS THAT SECURE THE STATIONARY REDUCTION GEAR TO THE CARNKCASE FRONT SECTION FLANGE SHEARED. THE #1 PROPELLER COULD BE TURNED BY HAND WITH LITTLE EFFORT. BROKEN PIECES OF METAL AND GEARS WERE FOUND IN THE ENGINE OIL SUMP. A PARTIAL ENGINE TEARDOWN WAS PERFORMED, REVEALING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WITHIN THE ENGINE. TWO PISTON CONNECTING RODS WERE FOUND BROKEN AND MULTIPLE GEARS WITHIN THE REDUCTION CASE WERE BROKEN INTO SMALL METALLIC CHUNCKS. SDR HAS BEEN SUBMITTED BY OWNER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
