## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 23 APRIL, 2011 ABOUT 1116 MST, AN EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT, RV-7A N59TD, PILOTED BY MR. DAVISON TOOK OFF FROM SUNRISE SKYPARK AIRPORT (ID40), MELBA, IDAHO. WHILE IN THE TAKE OFF CONFIGURATION DURING CLIMB OUT THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED A POWER LOSS/REDUCTION. MR. DAVISON THEN CONFIGURED THE AIRCRAFT FOR A UNSCHEDULED LANDING. HE DECIDED NOT TO DUE A 180 BACK TO THE AIRPORT AND FOUND A SPOT AHEAD BETWEEN TWO PONDS FOR HIS LANDING ZONE. THE SPOT WAS APPROXIMATELY TWO-THIRDS OF A MILE FROM THE AIRPORT. MR. DAVISON LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PASSENGER, BUT CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING, ENGINE/COWLING AND LANDING GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11LA207](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11LA207), Apr 23, 2011: Davison RV-7A (N59TD), Marsing, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power during initial climb for reasons that could not be determined because postaccident examination did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
