## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED 4V0 (RANGELY, CO) AT 1802Z ON AN IFR FLIGHT TO VYS (IL VALLEY RGNL). THE PILOT HAD FILED FOR AN ALTITUDE OF 17,000 AND THEN DECIDED TO CLIMB TO FL230 FOR BETTER TAILWINDS. DURING THE FLIGHT, WHILE ON PORTABLE OXYGEN AT FL230, THE PILOT REPORTED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE AND OXYGEN PROBLEMS. HE REQUESTED A LOWER ALTITUDE, AND DURING HIS DESCENT, HE CHANGED HIS DESTINATION TO RAY, CO. HE DESCENDED TO APPROX. 8,000, AND INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BETTER. HE THEN CHANGED HIS DESTINATION TO MCK (MCCOOK, NE). A SHORT TIME LATER, HE REQUESTED AN ALTITUDE OF 11,500 AND CHANGED HIS DESTINATION TO OTM (OTTUMWA, IA). LATER IN THE FLIGHT, AFTER CLIMBING TO A HIGHER ALTITUDE, HE BELIEVED THAT HE AND HIS PASSENGER WERE SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS OF HYPOXIA. THE PILOT THEN CHANGED HIS DESTINATION LNK (LINCOLN, NE) AND MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
