## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 4/29/2011, N415EC AN EXPERIMENTAL HOMEBUILT RV-10 PILOTED BY MR. DAVID SMITH DEPARTED DENTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (DTO) AT 1129 FOR GWINNETT COUNTY AIRPORT (LZU). THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO 3000 FEET AND AT 1135, THE PILOT REPORTED THE LEFT HAND DOOR HAD DEPARTED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DIVERTED TO AERO COUNTRY (T31) IN MCKINNEY WHERE IT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
