## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS CONCERNED AS TO THE AIRPORT WHICH WAS CLOSED DUE TO PRACTICE FOR AN AIRSHOW. HE HAD SLOWED TO GIVE MORE TIME FOR COMPLETION OF THE PRACTICE. WHEN HE CONTACTED THE AIRPORT, THEY ADVISED THAT THE FIELD WAS OPEN. HE WAS PREOCCUPIED SCANNING FOR OTHER TRAFFIC, HANDLING SOME TURBLANCE, AND FLYING A NEW AIRCRAFT. HE WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN AND LOCKED UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
