## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING AT HTO AIRPORT ONTO RUNWAY 28, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING THE FLARE AND TOUCHDOWN A STRONG GUST OF WIND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO DRIFT FROM THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. THE AIRCRAFT THEN YAWED LEFT. AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED HEADING TOWARD THE GRASS AREA ALONG THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A RUNWAY LIGHT AND CONTINUED ON THE GRASS UNTIL IT STRUCK AN ELEVATED DIRT MOUND SERVICE ROAD, SEPARATING THE NOSE WHEEL LANDING GEAR AND CAUSING SUBSTANIAL DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, ENGINE FIREWALL AND LEFT WING TIP. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANIAL DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED BY THE OCCUPANTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA270](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA270), Apr 30, 2011: Cessna 182T (N428LB), East Hampton, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control while landing with a crosswind, which resulted in a runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
