## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 3, 2011, IN BLUE SPRINGS, NEBRASKA, AT APPROXIMATELY 1415 HRS LOCAL TIME, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED HIS PERSONAL RUNWAY IN FRONT OF HIS RESIDENCE WITH A WESTERLY HEADING IN THE AMATEUR BUILT GYROCOPTER. HE ROTATED APPROXIMATELY HALF THE DISTANCE OF HIS RUNWAY, CONTINUED TO THE WEST AND TURNED SLIGHTLY SOUTH, FAILING TO GAIN THE PROPER ALTITUTDE TO GET OVER THE TELEPHONE CABLES. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STRUCK THE LOWER SIDE OF THE TELEPHONE CABLES WITH THE UPPER BLADES OF THE GYROCOPTER CAUSING THE BLADES TO DEPART THE AIRCRAFT ABOUT 3 FEET FROM THE CENTER OF THE MAIN SHAFT. AT THAT TIME, THE AIRCRAFT FELL TO THE STREET, APPROXIMATELY 35 FEET FROM THE IMPACT POINT WITH THE TELEPHONE CABLES, AND BURST INTO FLAMES. EYE WITNESSES REACHED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WITHIN SECONDS AND PULLED HIM FROM THE BURNING AIRCRAFT. THE EYEWITNESSES REPORTED CALM TO VARIABLE WIND OUT OF THE EAST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA316](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA316), May 3, 2011: Norris Dominator (N103EB), Blue Springs, NE, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from power lines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
