## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE N5097S WAS STARTING AN EAST TO WEST SWATH RUN AT AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET WHEN IT STRUCK THE LOWER RUNG OF POWER LINES THAT RAN ALONG THE EASTERN EDGE OF THE RICE FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN DESTROYED UPON IMPACT WITH THE GROUND ABOUT 300 FEET BEYOND. THE PILOT ONLY RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA330](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA330), May 10, 2011: Air Tractor AT-301 (N5097S), Garwood, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate clearance from transmission wires during a low-level maneuvering flight.

## Other reports on N5097S (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19860320036369A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19860320036369A), Mar 20, 1986: Airtrc AT301 (N5097S), Prescott, WA, Substantial damage. Right brake lock system inadvertently locked in flight. Ground looped on landing, ended up on nose, fire started.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
