## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM HOUMA, LA TO THUNDER HORSE PLATFROM IN THE GULF OF MEXICO. APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES OUT, A LOUD NOISE FROM THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT WITH AN ABRUPT RIGHT YAW AND OVERSPEED OF THE #1 ENGINE OCCURRED. THE #1 ENGINE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY. CREW FOLLOWED PROCEDURES AND RETURNED OEI TO HOUMA, LA.OPERATOR FOUND THE TRANSMISSION INPUT COUPLING SHEARED. THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY AND COUPLING WAS REPLACED DUE TO THE OVER SPEED. THE OTHER ENGINE HOT SECTION WAS BORESCOPE. THE OPERATOR INSPECTED THERE FLEET WITH NO OTHER IRREGULARITIES NOTED. THE TRANSMISSION INPUT COUPLING WAS SENT TO HSI FOR ANALYSIS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
