## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N28944 EXPERIENCED ENGINE POWER LOSS WHILE RETURNING TO CAMPBELL MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (34M). THE PILOT REPORTED HE WAS ABOUT 400 FEET AGL. HE LANDED HARD AND APPLIED RIGHT BRAKE TO STOP. DURING INVESTIGATION, THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND TO TRAVEL ABOUT 120 FEET AFTER IMPACT. THE TAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLY FRACTURED AND WAS FOUND 4 FEET BEHIND THE BACK OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE ONLY OTHER NOTED DAMAGE WAS TO THE FERTILIZER SPREADER. THE PILOT STATED THE ENGINE HAD PREVIOUSLY SPUTTERED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THIS FLIGHT. HE ALSO STATED HE PERFORMED MAGNETO CHECKS AND THE ENGINE RAN WITHIN LIMITS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT FLIGHT. THE LEFT WING FUEL SUMP DRAIN REVEALED 5-6 OUNCES OF WHAT APPEARED TO BE WATER - NO FUEL. THE RIGHT FUEL WING SUMP APPEARED TO BE AV GAS. AV GAS DRAINED FROM THE OPERATOR'S FUEL TRUCK WAS MILKY IN COLOR AND HAD PARTICLES IN IT INDICATING FUEL CONTAMINATION.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
