## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ATTEMPTED TO PUT GEAR DOWN AT PHK AIRPORT WITH NO RESPONSE, THEN CHECKED CB AND FOUND POPPED. ATTEMPTED GEAR EXTENSION 2 MORE TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY, THEN MANUAL EXTENSION BUT UNABLE DUE TO STUCK EMG EXTENSION HANDLE. PILOT THEN DECIDED TO RETURN TO FXE.AFTER EMG LANDING MANUAL EXTENSION WAS REATTEMPTED WHILE AIRCRAFT WAS LIFTED BY CRANE, WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS USED ON HAND CRANK.SUBSEQUENT GEAR SWINGS A FEW DAYS LATER BY MECHANIC INSIDE HANGAR SHOWED THAT LDG GEAR EXTENDED AND RETRACTED NORMALLY SEVERAL TIMES, AND THAT UPLOCK SWITCH ACTUATED PROPERLY. ADDITIONAL TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED PROBABLE MALFUNCTION OF CONTROL RELAY.THE FOLLOWING LDG GEAR PARTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE AIRPLANE AND SENT FOR TEARDOWN INSPECTION:ACTUATOR PN 95-810017-23 SN 22155MOTOR PN 58-380090-1 SN 10778RELAY PN 102364001-615 SN 8216TEARDOWN RESULTS NOT AVAILABLE YET. THIS INCIDENT REPORT WILL BE AMENDED LATER TO INCORPORATE ADDITIONAL FINDINGS RELEVANT TO THESE PARTS.8/22/11 - LDG GEAR PARTS WERE TESTED AT CRUISEAIR AVIATION (FAA CRS LF3R655L) AND ACTUATOR WAS FOUND BINDING IN THE GEAR UP POSITION WHERE THE WORM GEAR MEEST THE SECTOR GEAR. ACTUATOR ALSO SHOWED EXCESSIVE WEAR TO THE SECTOR GEAR TEETH IN THE GEAR UP POSITION, AND SECTOR GEAR SHOWED BENT 0.007 IN AT THE DAMAGED END. NEW SECTOR GEAR PN 35-810117-0011 WAS REQUIRED TO OVERHAUL ACTUATOR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
