## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS AN IFR FLIGHT WAS FROM VPZ TO 38D. EXECUTED A VOR-GPS-A APPROACH TO 38D. RUNWAY IS 3400 FEET LONG. CALCULATED THE LANDING ROLL TO BE 1400 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING CONTROLLED BY AKRON APPROACH CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT WAS HIGH ON THE DESCENT AND WAS OFFERED A 360 DEGREE TURN TO GET DOWN. THE PILOT ACCEPTED THIS AND WAS CLEARED FOR THE APPROACH. THE CLOUD TOPS WERE AT 3700 FEET AND THE BASES WERE IT 1800 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT WAS STBILIZED ON THE APPROACH AT 1800 FEET WITH FULL FLAPS. ON SHORT FINAL THE PILOT REALIZED HE WAS LOW, ADDED POWER AND PULLED UP, BUT TOUCHED DOWN 152 FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. HE THEN BOUNCED ONTO THE RUNWAY AND STOPPED ABOUT 120 FEET DOWN THE RUNWAY JUST OFF THE LEFT SIDE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS EVACUATED AND ONE PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT, THE PILOT STATED THERE WERE NOT PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRCRAFT OR THE ENGINE. HE STATED THAT HE JUST MIS-JUDGED THE APPROACH AND TOUCHED DOWN BEFORE THE RUNWAY SURFACE. THIS WAS A CONTROLLED FLIGHT INTO TERRAIN (CFIT) SITUATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA345](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA345), May 19, 2011: Socata TBM-850 (N1UL), Salem, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain a stabilized glide path which resulted in the airplane touching down short of the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
