## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT LANDED ON RUNWAY 29 RIGHT AND WAS APPARENTLY SPUN TO THE LEFT BY A GUST OF WIND. THE SEVERITY OF THE RATE OF TURN CAUSED THE LOWER RIGHT HAND WING TO CONTACT THE GROUND. THE PILOT WAS QUERIED BY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL IF ASSISTANCE WAS REQUIRED AND HE DECLINED. AIRCRAFT TAXIED VIA TAXIWAY HOTEL TO THE EAST T-HANGARS. ON MAY 20, 2011, THE PILOT WAS CONTACTED BY THE FAA REQUESTING TO VIEW THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE AIRCRAFT AT THAT TIME BUT STATED THAT THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS MINOR. THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER PERSONNEL WERE NOT SURE OF THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. TORRANCE AIRPORT CITY EMPLOYEES WERE NOT SURE OF THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE OF THE AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. INITIAL NOTIFICATION TO THE FAA REGIONAL OPERATIONS CENTER WAS MADE BY ATC TOWER AND THEN REPORTED TO THE NTSB WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY REQUESTED AIRCRAFT BE INSPECTED BY FAA PERSONNEL. ACCESS TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS GRANTED BY THE OWNER ON JUNE 2, 2011 AND REVEALED THE RIGHT HAND LOWER WING AFT SPAR HAD A HORIZONTAL CRACK FROM THE WING TIP PAST THE N-STRUT FITTING. THE OWNER WAS ADVISED TO FILE AN NTSB FORM 6120.1 REPORTING AN AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT AND ADVISED THAT PILOT AND AIRCRAFT RECORDS WOULD NEED TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE FAA FOR REVIEW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11CA251](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11CA251), May 19, 2011: Boeing B75N1 (N81235), Torrance, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions.
