## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT NOME IN VFR CONDITIONS. UPON DESCENT, HE THOUGHT HIS AIRSPEED WAS EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH. AFTER CLEARANCE TO LAND WAS GIVEN, HIS AIRSPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 160KTS. AT VERY SHORT FINAL, HE REALIZED HE WAS UNABLE TO LAND. AFTER APPLYING FULL POWER AND LIFTING THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE BELLY OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY. ON CLIMB OUT, PILOT REALIZED THE LANDING GEAR WAS IN THE STORED POSITION. PERFORMED GO AROUND, LOWERED GEAR, AND LANDED AT NOME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC11LA041](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC11LA041), Jun 2, 2011: Eclipse EA500 (N168TT), Nome, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot landed without lowering the landing gear. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's decision to fly the airplane with an inoperative wing flap system.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
