## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS ON A BUSINESS TRIP TO MONT BELVIEU, TX AND THEN TO LA PORT, TX. THE PURPOSE FOR THE TRIP TO LA PORT WAS TO GET THE "TACHOMETER" FIXED, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT WORKING. THE PILOT WAS FORCED TO LAND, WHEN THE PLANE LOST POWER. A VIDEO PROVIDED TO FOX 26, BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, CONTAINED AUDIO OF THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH.AN INSPECTION FOUND THAT THE ENGINE DID HAVE A MECHANICAL PROBLEM, WHICH WILL BE INVESTIGATED DURING THE ENGINE DISASSEMBLY.THE PILOT SELECTED AN AREA THAT WAS A GATED COMMUNITY, WITH NO HOUSES OR OTHER PROPERTY. THE PILOT STATED HE LANDED A LITTLE LONG AND FAST. TO KEEP FROM HITTING A POLE, HE SAID HE HIT THE BREAKS TO HARD AND STOOD THE PLANE ON ITS NOSE.THIS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PROP, CARBURETOR, COWL, AND WING TIP. THE PILOT CUT THE FABRIC ON THE WING TIP TO INSPECT FOR DAMAGE AND IT WAS LIMITED TO THE LEADING EDGE ONLY. NO OTHER DAMAGE COULD BE FOUND, ON THE PLANE.DURING THE ENGINE TEARDOWN, WITH AN INSPECTOR FOR THE HOUSTON FSDO PRESENT, IT REVILED THAT THE NUMBER ONE CYLINDER EXHAUST VALVES HAD BROKEN AT THE KEEPERS. IT IS SUSPECTED THE CAUSE WAS FATIGUE.

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19840316021709I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840316021709I), Mar 16, 1984: Blanca 7ACA (N9133L), Chandler, AZ, Minor damage. Hand propped engine with only hand brake set. Aircraft ran into a parked aircraft when engine started. Not a pilot.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
