## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N1480B, PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ON LANDING ROLL OUT ON RUNWAY 26R AT SPIRIT OF SAINT LOUIS AIRPORT (KSUS). THE TAILWHEEL LEAF SPRING FRACTURED ABOUT 10 FEET AFTER TOUCHDOWN. THE AIRCRAFT WENT INTO THE GRASS PARTIALLY OFF THE RUNWAY. NO OTHER DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE TAILWHEEL ASSEMBLY "LEAF SPRING," PART NUMBER U3-428-1, FRACTURED. THE "LEAF SPRING," PART NUMBER U3-428-1, HAS INDICATIONS OF PREVIOUS FRACTURE FATIGUE. A MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT WILL BE COMPLETED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
