## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC TAXIED HIS AIRCRAFT, WITH THE INTENTION OF FLIGHT, INTO A DITCH ADJACENT TO A HELICOPTER PAD LOCATED NEAR WHERE THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN PARKED. WHEN EXITING FROM THE RAMP AREA , THE PIC DID NOT FOLLOW THE NORMAL AND MARKED (SOLID YELLOW TAXI LINES) TO THE MAIN TAXIWAY LEADING TO THE RUNWAY. THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO TAXI DIRECTLY FROM THE TRANSIENT PARKING AREA ON TO THE TAXIWAY. AS A RESULT OF TAXIING THE AIRCRAFT DIRECTLY TO THE TAXIWAY, THE PIC TAXIED ACROSS A HELIPAD AND THEN INTO A DITCH WHICH SEPARATED THE HELIPAD FROM THE MAIN TAXIWAY. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT A TIME NEAR SUNSET. THE PIC STATED THAT HE DID NOT SEE THE DITCH SEPARATING THE HELIPAD FROM THE TAXIWAY.THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IN THE EMPENNAGE, FORWARD OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZERS AND AFT OF THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT BULKHEAD. THE AIRFRAME WAS DAMAGED IN THE UNDERCARRIAGE PORTION OF THE EMPENNAGE.THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE RUDDER OR NOSE WHEEL STEERING SYSTEM.THERE WAS NO DAMAGE OR LEAKAGE OBSERVED TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM (LEFT AND RIGHT MAIN BRAKES).
