## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 20, 2011, APPROXIMATELY 1030 EDT, A CGS HAWK ARROW REGISTERED TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN FLIGHT APPROXIMATELY QUARTER MILE FROM GILLIAM-MCCONNELL AIRFIELD IN CARTHAGE, NC AT 500 FT WHEN PILOT EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER. PILOT INDICATED ENGINE WAS NOT PRODUCING THRUST. PILOT INDICATED THAT SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGED BY HIM JUST BEFORE FLIGHT. DURING FURTHER INVESTIGATION SPARK PLUG WAS MISSING FROM ENGINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA355](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA355), Jun 20, 2011: Dotson William P Sngl Seat Hawk Arrow (N4209F), Carthage, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to the pilot’s improper installation of the engine’s No. 1 cylinder spark plugs.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
