## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT WAS FOR A REGULATORY FLIGHT REVIEW FOR PIC (HIS FLIGHT REVIEW EXPIRED IN APRIL 2011). FLIGHT DEPARTED 1D2 AT APPROXIMATELY 1830 LOCAL AND PROCEEDED TO KOZW WHERE WITNESSES SAW THEM DOING AT LEAST 1 TOUCH AND GO LANDING. WITNESS (PILOT WAITING TO TAKE-OFF)OBSERVED AIRCRAFT ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 31 AT KOZW, AND STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS "NOTICEABLY TOO HIGH AND AT A SLOW AIRSPEED" PERFORMING A SLIP WITH LEFT AILERON UP AND RIGHT RUDDER. WITNESS OBSERVED WINGS "MUSHING" BACK AND FORTH THEN HE BROKE (SPUN) TO THE RIGHT. AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE FRONT YARD OF A RESIDENCE AND SLID APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET PRIOR TO BECOMING AIRBORNE AND HIT THE FRONT OF THE BRICK RESIDENCE FATALLY INJURING BOTH PILOTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11FA431](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11FA431), Jun 29, 2011: Bosonetto Thorp T-18 (N8AL), Howell, MI, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airplane control and airspeed during final approach, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall/spin at a low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
