## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS PART OF AN AIRSHOW AT KBTL AIRPORT. DURING A SNAP ROLL THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE LEFT AILERON DEPARTED THE WING. PART OF THE AILERON HIT THE CANOPY. PILOT WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT THE LEFT AILERON AND A BROKEN CANOPY. PILOT LANDED AND TAXIED TO HANGERS SAFELY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA459](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA459), Jul 3, 2011: Wingtip To Wingtip Panzl S-330 (N330JK), Battle Creek, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The inadequate aileron hinge design, which resulted in the in-flight separation of the left aileron following a fatigue failure of the center hinge rod-end.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
