## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC WAS LANDING RWY 17 AT SUGAR LAND REGIONAL AIRPORT (SGR) IN A CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRCRAFT. AFTER LANDING AND ON ROLL OUT THE PILOT STATED THAT THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS SWINGING TO THE RIGHT. THE PILOT RESPONDED WITH RIGHT RUDDER BUT COULD NOT STOP THE GROUND LOOP. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND DURING THE LOOP AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE GRASS LEFT OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOTS RIGHT ELBOW STRUCK THE RIGHT WINDOW BREAKING THE GLASS AND CUTTING HIS ARM. THE PASSENGER WAS UNINJURED. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUSTANIAL - THE RIGHT WING WAS BOWED UPWARD INDICATING DAMAGE TO THE SPAR, POSSIBLE FIREWALL DAMAGE AS SEEN BY A BUCKLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE COWLING BY THE FIREWALL, AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE RIGHT WING AND WING TIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA450](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA450), Jul 2, 2011: American Champion 7GCBC (N79RA), Sugar Land, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
