## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DEPARTED NEAR MAX GROSS WEIGHT WITH 3 PASSENGERS IN PA28. DENSITY ALTITUDE WAS A FACTOR. FLEW TO NEARBY AIRPORT AND THEN AROUND THE VALLEY FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR. DURING LANDING FLARE WAS HIGH AND AIRCRAFT HIT HARD AND BOUNCED ON THE BOUNCE PILOT ADDED POWER TO TRY AND SOFTEN THE NEXT LANDING. SUBSEQUENT LANDING HIT HARD AND FAST. AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RUNWAY AS PILOT ATTEMPTED GO AROUND BY APPLYING FULL POWER AND LATER RETRACTING THE FLAPS. AIRCRAFT TRAVELED FOR APPROXIMATELY 900 FEET IN THE GRASS BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY. AIRCRAFT THEN STRUCK A DITCH WHICH CAUSED THE LANDING GEAR TO SHEAR OFF. AIRCRAFT STOPPED SOON THEREAFTER. NO DAMAGE TO PROPELLER OR ENGINE. DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS, FUSELAGE, BELLY, NOSEWHEEL, AND BOTH MAIN GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
