## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT WITH 100 HRS, ALL ENDORSEMENTS PROPER WITH CURRENT MEDICAL, IN HIS PERSONAL AIRCRAFT. ADMITTEDLY CAME IN HIGH AND FAST ON APPROACH TO LAND ON A DEW COVERED SOD RUNWAY (2000' LONG), LIGHT SURFACE WINDS, BUT LIGHT TAILWINDS FROM THE EAST ABOVE 100FT AGL. PILOT WAS HESITANT TO GO AROUND BECAUSE HE CLAIMS HE HAD NOT BEEN TRAINED IN THE GO-AROUND PROCEDURE. HE LAND MID-FIELD, HAD LITTLE OR NO BRAKING, BEGAN TO SWERVE A LITTLE, DECIDED TO TAKE OFF AGAIN. HIS RIGHT MAIN GEAR HIT A FENCE, THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ON, HIT THE FENCE AGAIN (THE FENCE MADE A 90 DEGREE TURN) AND A FENCE POST, WHICH TOOK THE THE MAIN GEAR AND RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER OFF THE AIRCRAFT, WHICH THEN IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A LEVEL ATTITUDE WITH SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, BUT NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA451](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA451), Jul 5, 2011: Maule MXT-7-180A (N800NH), New Carlisle, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to conduct a go-around once he recognized he was going to land long on the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
