## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT'S INTENDED DESTINATION WAS MONUMENT VALLEY, UT25. HOWEVER, UPON ARRIVAL IN THE AREA HE BEGAN A LANDING AT A NEARBY SMALL STRIP, OLJATO 05UT, WHICH IS IN VERY POOR CONDITION AND UNSUITEABLE FOR HIS AIRCRAFT. HE INITIATED A GO-AROUND PROCEDURE BUT DUE TO THE HIGH DENSITY ALTITUDE AND POSSIBLE GEAR DRAG HE REALIZED HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO CLIMB. HE ELECTED TO BASICALLY ALLOW THE AIRCRAFT TO SETTLE AND CRASH LAND ON THE STRIP.THE REPORT WILL BE AMENDED AS MORE INFORMATION IS OBTAINED FOR THE UNKNOWN AREAS.COORDINATION WILL BE MADE WITH THE SDL FSDO TO INSPECT THE AIRCRAFT IN PHX AT THE RECOVERY COMPANY'S FACILITY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
