## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED HOUSTON SOUTHWEST AIRPORT WITH NEW OWNER AND PILOT (OWNER DOES NOT HAVE TAIL WHEEL ENDORSEMENT). REFUELED IN DERIDDER, LA AND ABOUT ONE HOUR LATER, AROUND 7:45 PM LOCAL TIME, WHILE AT 5500 FEET, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. THE PILOT (PIC) APPLIED CARB HEAT WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. ATTEMPTED TO RETURN TO THE OPELOUSAS AIRPORT BUT HAD TO LAND IN A SOYBEAN FIELD ABOUT 15 MILES EAST OF THE AIRPORT. NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
