## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN FLYING FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND WAS COMING BACK TO 0CL1 FOR LANDING. ON THE APROACH HE WAS AT 55 KTS, WHEN HE WENT TO ADD FLAPS. HIS HAND SLIPPED AND THE GLIDER LANDED HARD AND FLIPPED OVER. HE STATED THAT THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL AREA HOSPITAL. DEPUTY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FROM SAN BERNARDINO SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT WAS ON SCENE AND REPORTED THAT THE TAIL WAS TWISTED AT A 90-DEGREE ANGLE AND THE NOSE CONE HAD A LARGE CRACK IN IT. THERE WAS NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE WINGS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11CA338](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11CA338), Jul 16, 2011: Rolladen Schneider OHG LS-3-17 (N84AM), Adelanto, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's incorrect use of the flap control pitch control recovery which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
