## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

IN THE LATE AFTERNOON OF JULY 15, 2011 WHILE ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT IN AND OUT OF FAMILY OWNED AIRFIELD REGISTERED AS 7NY2, WITH 12 YEAR OLD GRANDSON AND HIS FRIEND ON BOARD, AIRCRAFT CRASHED WHILE LANDING ON RUNWAY 26. THE AIRCRAFT A PIPER PA 28-140 WITH REGISTRATION N7516R WAS PILOTED BY THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. THE PILOT STATED THAT WHILE HE WAS LANDING TO THE WEST, A WIND GUST BLEW THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TURF ROLLER WHICH WAS PARKED 15 TO 20 FEET TO THE RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP, IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET FROM THE ROLLER, FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND RESTING ON ITS RIGHT SIDE. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRFRAME (RIGHT WING SEVERED, FUSELAGE BUCKLED.) THE AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASED BACK TO THE OWNER AFTER COORDINATION WITH NTSB.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA404](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA404), Jul 15, 2011: Piper PA-28-140 (N7516R), Adams, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
