PILOT WAS NOT INJURED DURING THIS INCIDENT.ASI VERIFIED FUEL, OIL, AND GENERAL AIRWORTHINESS OF AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS MAINTAINED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. NTSB WAS NOTIFIED AND RESPONDED WITH NO NOTIFICATION NEEDED PER AIRCRAFT INCIDENT.RECEIVED ENGINE TEAR DOWN REPORT DATED SEPTEMBER 29, 2011, IN REFERENCE TO ENGINE S/N #21813, FROM YOUNKIN AVIATION, INC., 14925 WOOLSEY ROAD, WEST FORK, AR 72774. THE REPORT LISTED AS FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR. IT APPEARS THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED FROM IMPROPER STARTING PROCEDURES AT AN UNKNOWN TIME PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO THE #5 CYLINDER MASTER ROD THAT HAPPENED DURING START-UP WOULD DETERMINE HOW LONG THE ENGINE WILL RUN BEFORE FAILURE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
