## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND MISJUDGED HIS ALTITUDE WHILE PERFORMING AN AGRICULTURAL OPERATION. THE AIRCRAFT SPRAY BOOM AND LANDING GEAR COLLECTED CORN STALKS AS A RESULT OF THE PILOT IN COMMAND GETTING TOO LOW. ONCE THE PILOT REALIZED THIS, HE IMMEDIATELY PULLED UP IN AN EFFORT TO RETURN TO HIS HOME AIRPORT. THE INCREASE IN DRAG MADE THE AIRCRAFT UNABLE TO MAINTAIN FLIGHT. THE PILOT WAS FORCED TO LAND IN THE CORN FIELD CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA495](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA495), Jul 19, 2011: Cessna A188B (N4725R), Greenstown, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate clearance from vegetation that caused increased drag during a low-level maneuvering flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
