## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED HE WAS LANDING INTO THE SETTING SUN AND HIS VISION WAS OBSCURED BY CHEMICAL ON THE WINDSCREEN. THE PILOT SAID HE WAS NOT SURE OF THE DETAILS BECAUSE "IT ALL HAPPENED SO FAST." HE FURTHER STATED THAT ON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED, AND NOSED OVER. AT THAT POINT, THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED, AND THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED, COMING TO REST ON ITS BELLY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA497](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA497), Jul 21, 2011: Grumman Schweizer G-164A (N5439), North English, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
