ON AUGUST 05, 2011, AT APPROXIMATELY 9:45, AIRCRAFT N13LN WAS TAKING OFF FROM A PAVED SHOULDER PARALLEL TO THE NORTH/SOUTH SOD RUNWAY AT THE FROSTPROOF AIRPORT (52FL). JUST AFTER ROTATION, AS THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE IT VEERED TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY AND THE LEFT WING CAME IN CONTACT WITH A LIGHT POLE. THE AIRCRAFT THEN STRUCK THE GROUND AND FLIPPED, IT CAME TO REST IN AN INVERTED POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, WINGS, FLIGHT CONTROLS, PROPELLER, AND ENGINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA440](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA440), Aug 5, 2011: Nelsen Lynn H Lightning (N13LN), Frostproof, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's premature rotation during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
