## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ENROUTE FROM THE ROSEBURG AREA TO SALEM AND ENCOUNTERED LESS THAN FORECAST WEATHER. HE DECIDED TO LAND IN THE RIVER TO WAIT OUT THE WEATHER. HE DI A PASS OVER THE RIVER TO CHECK FOR SUITABLITY AND HAZARDS. HE LINED UP, MADE HIS APPROACH AND SPLASHED DOWN. HE STARTED SLOWING RIGHT AWAY BUT THEN HIT A SUBMERGED OBJECT, BADLY DAMAGEING HIS RIGHT FLOAT. AND PUTTING THE AIRCRAFT ON IT'S NOSE..

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
