## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF THE HELICYCLE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS PARTICIPATING IN AN ANNUAL EVENT HELD BY THE POPULAR ROTOCRAFT ASSOCIATION IN MENTONE, INDIANA 46539. THE PILOT SAID HE TOOK OFF FROM THE AIRPORT (C92) HEADING IN A NORTHWEST DIRECTION. AT APPROXIMATELY 100' THE TURBINE ENGINE FLAMED OUT. THE PILOT SAID THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO PERFORM A PROPER AUTO-ROTATION. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD IN A BEAN FIELD ABOUT 100 YARDS WEST OF THE MAIN RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFTS RIGHT SKID GAVE WAY WHEN THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE GROUND. THE ROTORCRAFT CONSEQUENTLY ROLLED OVER ON TO IT'S RIGHT SIDE CAUSING THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES AND THE TAIL ROTOR TO IMPACT THE GROUND CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THOSE PARTS. THE PILOT WALKED AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
