THE PILOT WENT INTO AUTO ROTATION AND TRIED TO AIR RESTART BUT FAILED. UPON HITTING THE GROUND THE HELICOPTER BOUNCED INTO THE OVERHANGING TREES THEN SKIDDED APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET DOWN THE CENTER OF THE STREET AND CAME TO REST WITH THE NOSE DOWN, SKIDS FACING EAST AND LEANING TO THE NORTH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA448](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA448), Aug 11, 2011: Robinson R22 (N62JF), Titusville, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The private pilot's incorrect manipulation of the engine mixture control which resulted in an inadvertent engine shutdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
