## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO TAKEOFF ON A PRIVATE GRASS RUNWAY BETWEEN TWO LARGE CORN FIELDS. THE TAKEOFF ROLL BEGAN ON THE FAR LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. TALL WEEDS, APPROXIMATELY 5 FEET HIGH, HAD GROWN BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND CORN FIELD.DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, THE LEFT WING STRUCK A LARGE CORNER POST APPROXIMATELY 16" IN DIAMETER AND 5 FEET TALL, WHICH WAS CONCEALED BY THE WEEDS. WHEN THE PILOT REALIZED WHAT HAPPENED, HE ABORTED THE TAKE OFF AND SETTLED INTO A DITCH ALONGSIDE THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT WING WAS DISLODGED, THE NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED, AND THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
