## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT (HYSTER II) WAS BEING TEST FLOWN AFTER HAVING A NEW ENGINE AND PROPELLER INSTALLED. SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE WENT TO IDLE AND THE PILOT WAS FORCED TO LAND. IN AN ATTEMPT TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT IN AN ADJACENT FIELD THE PILOT STRUCK A POWER LINE WITH THE LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED UPON HITTING THE GROUND. THE PILOT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR NECK INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA671](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA671), Aug 13, 2011: Fisher Michael E Hyster (N7167S), Lake Jackson, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The improper maintenance of the throttle control cable, which resulted in the engine going to idle power after takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
