As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING APPROACH TO LANDING IN A FIELD AT THE FARM WHERE THE PILOT AND OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT RESIDES THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK AN ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION LINE AT A HEIGHT OF APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET ABOVE THE SURFACE. THE TRANSMISSION LINE WAS OBSCURED BY A ROW OF TREES LOCATED ALONG THE APPROACH END OF THE LANDING SITE.THE TRANSMISSION LINE BROKE ALLOWING THE AIRCRAFT TO IMPACT THE SURFACE UPRIGHT IN A LEVEL ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED THE SINGLE PASSENGER RECEIVED A MINOR INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11CA397](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11CA397), Aug 19, 2011: Cessna 170B (N2789D), Jefferson, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from power transmission lines during the landing approach into the sun.

## Other reports on N2789D (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19850704034929I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19850704034929I), Jul 4, 1985: Cessna 170B (N2789D), Truro, IA, Minor damage. Landed long and unable to stop. Ran off end of runway. Went up onto nose. Runway slopes downhill.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
