## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 28 FROM DLZ IN ROUTE TO VTA WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED HE RAN THE PRE ROTATE OF THE ROTOR UP TO 200 RPM THEN EXECUTED THE TAKE-OFF ROLL WHICH APPEARED NORMAL AND ROTATED WHEN AIRSPEED REACHED 50 MPH. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED AFTER LIFT-OFF FROM THE RUNWAY HE PITCHED UP TO APPROXIMATELY 8 DEGREES AND NOTICED HIS AIRSPEED FELT LOW. ENGINE RPM WAS 4000, 4200 AND SHOULD BE AROUND 5000. AT THIS POINT HE PUSHED THE COLLECTIVE FORWARD TO BRING THE NOSE DOWN IN AN ATTEMPT TO GAIN AIRSPEED, AT THIS TIME ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (PIC) INSTRUCTED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ TO LAND. THE ALTITUDE OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS AROUND 20 TO 30 FEET AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTEMPTED TO LAND CONTACTING THE EDGE OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY WITH THE RIGHT MAIN TIRE. THE NOSE GEAR IMPACTED THE GRASS OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND COLLAPSED ALLOWING THE AIRCRAFT TO ROLL TO THE LEFT CONTACTING THE GROUND AND COMING TO REST ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. DURING THIS TIME THE ROTOR CONTACTED THE GROUND AS WELL AS THE PROP. BOTH OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH MINOR INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT NECESSARY FOR EITHER OCCUPANT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA591](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA591), Aug 20, 2011: American Autogyro Sparrowhawk (N2631B), Delaware, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The noncertificated pilot did not maintain adequate airspeed and aircraft control during initial climb.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
