## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 1335 LOCAL TIME, WHILE CONDUCTING ROUTINE SURVEILLANCE OF THE 2011 SELFRIDGE AIR SHOW, INSPECTORS FROM THE EAST MICHIGAN FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE (EMI FSDO) OBSERVED AN INDIVIDUAL FALL FROM AN AIRCRAFT. THE INDIVIDUAL WAS ATTEMPTING TO PERFORM AN AERIAL TRANSFER FROM AN AIRPLANE (N49739, 1943, BOEING A75N1 PT17) TO A HELICOPTER (N7505B, 1985, SCHWEIZER, HUGHES 269C). INSPECTORS WERE NEAR THE AIR BOSS CONTROL TRAILER LOCATED NORTHEAST OF THE DESIGNATED AEROBATIC BOX. THE AIRCRAFT PASSED FROM NORTH TO SOUTH BY THE CONTROL TRAILER. BOTH AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE WITHIN THE DESIGNATED AEROBATIC BOX AT THIS TIME. THE AIRCRAFT WERE OBSERVED JUST NORTH OF SHOW CENTER WHEN INSPECTORS WITNESSED THE INDIVIDUAL ATTEMPTING THE AERIAL TRANSFER FALL FROM N49739 AND IMPACT THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 1100 FEET EAST OF RUNWAY 1/19 AND APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET NORTH OF THE PERPENDICULAR ACCESS ROAD. THE VICTIM IMPACTED THE GROUND AND SLID APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET. INSPECTORS OBSERVED FIRST RESPONDERS AND EMERGENCY PERSONNEL APPROACH THE SCENE AND RENDER TREATMENT TO THE VICTIM. A SHORT TIME LATER, THE VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED TO MT. CLEMENS REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. MACOMB COUNTY SHERIFF DETECTIVE MCFADDEN NOTIFIED INSPECTOR WARD THAT THE VICTIM WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD SHORTLY AFTER HIS ARRIVAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
