## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATES THAT HE WAS MAKING AN APPROACH TO THE OFF-AIRPORT LOCATION (WHITE CREEK), AND INITIATED A GO-AROUND BECAUSE THE LANDING WAS NOT GOING TO BE IN THE SELECTED SPOT. HE FELT THE GO-AROUND WAS THE BEST CHOICE BUT HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE IT SUCCESSFUL. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT OUTCLIMB THE TERRAIN, HIT MOSTLY LEFT SIDE FIRST WHICH CAUSED MOST OF THE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT STATES THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY AND THAT THERE WERE NO KNOWN DEFICIENCIES IN THE ENGINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC11CA085](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC11CA085), Aug 24, 2011: Maule M-5-210C (N62019), Tok, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to go-around soon enough to preclude the necessity of a forced landing due to the airplane's inability to outclimb ascending terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
