## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF LANDING, WITH THREE DIFFERENT REPORTING POINTS ON THE FIELD INDICATING WIND DIRECTIONS VARYING AS MUCH AS 100 DEGREES, WITH GUSTS EXCEEDING 20KTS AT TIMES.PREVIOUS LANDING AIRCRAFT REPORTED A -10KTS WINDSHEAR AT 400 FT. PILOT USED PROPER CROSSWIND LANDING CONTROL INPUTS, AND AS TAILWHEEL CONTACTED RUNWAY WHILE SLOWING DOWN ON THE LANDING ROLLOUT, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO VEER SHARPLY TO THE LEFT, CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY SURFACE, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO RIGHT WINGTIP, AILERON AND SPAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11CA414](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11CA414), Aug 29, 2011: Maule M-6-235 (N6140B), Hailey, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing rollout in a gusty, crosswind condition.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
