## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUG 29, 2011 AT 10:55AM FLIGHT TRS 491 (717-200, N975AT) WAS STRUCK BY A BIRD DURING A 5 MILE FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 17L AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MCO). THE BIRD STRUCK THE UPPER LEADING EDGE OF THE VERTICAL STABILIZER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS ABLE TO LAND WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. UPON LANDING DAMAGED TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS DISCOVERED ALONG THE UPPER LEADING EDGE OF THE VERTICAL STABILIZER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
