## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 08, 2011, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:00, PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND AN AIRCRAFT WITH AMPHIBIOUS FLOATS ON LONG LAKE NEAR CENTURIA, WISCONSIN, WITH THE LANDING GEAR WHEELS IN THE POSITION FOR HARD SURFACE LANDINGS (WHEELS DOWN). THE AIRCRAFT BECAME INVERTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER TOUCHING DOWN ON THE WATER. PILOT WAS ABLE TO EVACUATE FROM AIRCRAFT WITH MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11LA632](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11LA632), Sep 8, 2011: Piper/Cub Crafters PA-18-150 (N902CC), Long Lake, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to complete the prelanding checklist, which resulted in the landing gear wheels not being retracted for the water landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
