## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2011 PILOT PLANNED ON LANDING AT PRIVATE STRIP IN LYONS WISCONSIN, (WI92). THE PILOT NOTICED THAT THE TURF STRIP HAD AN UPHILL SLOPE AND KEPT POWER IN TOO LONG, PLANNING TO AVOID AN UPHILL TAXI. THE PILOT DID NOT KNOW THAT THERE WAS A DOWN HILL SLOPE NEAR THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND BRAKING ACTION WAS NOT ENOUGH TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT FROM RUNNING OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND HITTING A PARKED CAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA665](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA665), Sep 23, 2011: Esselstyn Chuck RV-6 (N6YC), Lyons, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to obtain a proper touchdown point while landing, which resulted in a runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
