## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED HE BECAME DISTRACTED ON ENTERING THE SUA TFC PATTERN BY A NEW GPS RECEIVER HE RECENTLY HAD INSTALLED, AND FORGOT TO LOWER THE GEAR PRIOR TO LANDING. HAD AUTO-DEPLOY SYSTEM OVERRIDDEN BECAUSE OF SOME PREVIOUS STALL/SPIN ACCIDENTS ATTRIBUTED TO INADVERTENT ACTUATION OF THE GEAR AND SUBSEQUENT REDUCTION IN AIRSPEED. ASKED IF HE HEARD THE GEAR HORN OR SAW THE FLASHING AMBER GEAR ADVISORY LIGHT, AND STATED HE HAD A NOISE-CANCELLING HEADSET ON, AND ONLY HEARD THE HORN WHILE IN THE FLARE JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN. DID NOT SEE THE WARNING LIGHT. §61.56 CURRENT. PILOT FURTHER STATED HE HAD JUST MODIFIED HIS PATTERN PROCEDURES TO NOT DROP THE GEAR AT 120 KTS, BUT TO DELAY SO AS TO NOT PUT A HIGH AERODYNAMIC LOAD ON THE GEAR, PER HIS CFI. GEAR SPEED IS 150 KTS. INTEND TO COUNSEL CFI. COUNSELED AIRMAN DURING THE INTERVIEW, NO FURTHER ACTION INTENDED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
